Michael Schur was inspired to create "A Man On the Inside" after watching the Chilean documentary "The Mole Agent"
Synopsis
Charles, a retired man, finds new life by answering a private investigator’s ad and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. He says, "The Mole Agent" documentary is powerful because it makes people feel something very similar to people of any age, ethnicity, or gender, and I would describe that feeling in a very reductive way as: “I have to call my mom.” In our show, we tried to do something similar with the tone: does our show encourage that feeling of wanting to call our moms?
How can you not appreciate Ted Danson
A remake of the movie El agente topo (2020). The guys are legendary, like Tom Selleck’s mustache.
Anyway, this show seemed like a boy of everything to me
Some pretty funny lines, two very attractive female leads who never get hurt, and a great message about the connections you make in life. Especially in the later stages when things really matter for the right reasons.
I also found this show to resonate with me because of its treatment of dementia
Having recently lost my father to this terrible disease, it just made me feel more connected. However, as each episode unfolded, I became more invested and found each character to be charming and appealing in their own unique way.
I definitely recommend this series and I look forward to another season
It’s a feel-good experience, not completely overwhelming like some scenes in the classic film “On Golden Pond”, and all in all, just a relaxing and well-written show.
