Amazon’s original offering for the television rights to JRR
Synopsis
An epic drama set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' follows a cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil in Middle-earth.. "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" cast and more actors who completely transformed for their roles.. Tolkien 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' novels was to make the series a new adaptation of the latter (effectively a retelling of Gospodar prstenova: Prstenova družina (2001), Gospodar prstenova: Dvije kule (2002) and Gospodar prstenova: Povratak kralja (2003)), but Tolkien’s estate rejected this proposal.
The dubbing captions for several languages incorrectly refer to King Durin III as “Durin II”
Amazon finally got the rights on the condition that the series differ from Peter Jackson’s earlier adaptations and that they could not contradict anything Tolkien had previously written. Early ideas that were floated included backstories with characters like Aragorn, Gimli and Gandalf, but the show’s writers preferred to focus on important untold events from the novels' erudition, not simple side stories, so they agreed with the studio that the series would take place during the books' Second era. Because they had no rights to Tolkien’s The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales; and 'The Story of Middle Earth' (who research the First and Second Ages), they checked the Lord of the Rings novels and supplements for passages and references to the Second Age in which they could set their story. They consulted the estate and several Tolkien lore experts (including grandson and novelist Simon Tolkien) about the inclusion of new characters and plot elements..

The opening titles are a musical sequence of matter forming various forms based on the "Music of the Ainur" creation myth by J.R.R. Featured in The Critical Drinker: The Rings of Power – War for the Phenom (2022). How much did they spend on it? To believe this and go on the journey, you have to respect the plot and get involved.
It just seemed to wash over me
Light acting, sugary characters, minimal drama, no heaviness and no menace. Just a few established actors might have improved the overall effect, though the dialogue is sadly lacking. It’s so boring, a bit like a children’s comic book or children’s TV, not for adults. Such a shame, I was looking forward to this, but given Amazon’s poor track record for epic storylines (Wheel of Time being a prime example), maybe I shouldn’t be surprised..
